CURTAIN GUIDE
Use double curtain tracks
Make your curtains both decorative and functional by installing wall- or ceiling-mounted tracks in two layers. On the inner track, closest to the window, hang a sheer linen voile to provide privacy and soften direct sunlight. On the outer track, facing the room, place a heavier linen curtain to control the light according to your needs. This setup frames the window beautifully, creates a cozy atmosphere, and helps keep drafts at bay during cold winter months.
How to maximize natural light from your window
Regardless of window size, extend the curtain rod or track beyond the window frame, about 20–30 cm if space allows. This maximizes the amount of natural light entering the room and makes the window appear larger. Ideally, place most of the curtain fabric in front of the wall, allowing just 10–15 cm to overlap the windowpane. With double curtain layers in two depths, you can easily adjust the light as you wish.
Create the illusion of higher ceilings
A ceiling-mounted curtain track creates a seamless floor-to-ceiling look, instantly making the ceilings feel higher and the room more spacious. This not only enhances the window but also gives the entire space an airier, more open feel. For maximum light and a visually larger window, extend the curtains beyond the window frame, utilizing the surrounding wall space whenever possible.
Tips!
Don't skimp on curtain fabric
When it comes to curtains, more fabric is always better—you won’t regret it. Narrow, skimpy panels never do a room justice. Think carefully about the look you want to achieve in your space. Will a single curtain panel be enough, or do you need double-width drapes? Large windows require more fabric to create a balanced and elegant effect.
How wide should your curtain be when hung?
Consider the fabric width and how much fullness you want when the curtain is in place. Curtain heading styles affect fabric usage significantly. For example, a two-finger pleat reduces the fabric width by about 40%, while a simple rod pocket design maintains the full width of the fabric. The difference in fabric consumption can be substantial, so plan accordingly.
Create a luxurious hotel feel in your bedroom
The “hotel style” trend—with fabric-draped walls in bedrooms and living spaces—has grown in popularity in recent years. As larger windows become more common in modern homes, our double-width curtain panels are a perfect choice to achieve this soft, elegant look.
Embrace linen’s natural texture
Linen curtains don’t need to be ironed. To remove fold marks or creases, simply spray the fabric generously with water and let the fibers relax naturally.
Coordinate colours for a cohesive home
Choose curtains that complement your interior. A great approach is to pick up an existing shade from the room and decorate in a tone-on-tone style. To find the perfect hue, explore our colour guide and order fabric samples for a closer look.
